DePauw University will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 30, as record cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills are in the forecast for west central Indiana and the Midwest. The university will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday and reopen at 11 a.m. Thursday. Classes will resume with 12:40 p.m. classes on Thursday, Jan. 31. Perhaps an image of the freezing temperatures that are coming our way, a light layer of snow could be seen sprinkling a field in Marion Township in a kind of chilly desolation Tuesday morning. As a result of a polar vortex that will sweep the Midwest, Putnam County will experience dangerous -30 to -45-degree wind chills, some of the coldest air the area has seen in more than two decades. A wind chill advisory issued for central Indiana will be in effect from Tuesday evening until Thursday afternoon.
