Council approves road funding, some pay increases for highway department

With two Putnam County Highway matters on the agenda Tuesday night, one was all but a done deal for the Putnam County Council. The other? It got a bit thornier. The Council unanimously approved a total of $2.1 million in additional appropriations for road projects for the year, with $900,000 each coming from the department’s Motor Vehicle Highway and Motor Vehicle Highway Restricted funds, and another $200,000 coming from the Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) Warchest that the Putnam County Commissioners had already allotted for roads.. ...

Fair begins Friday with new schedule
