Little storm damage, but 5 bridges closed

Friday, June 22, 2007

Putnam County's Highway Department reports minor damage from the storms which blew through Putnam County Thursday night.

Mostly tree limbs and a few trees across the road were the only result of the heavy winds that accompanied the storm.

The department reports that there are a few county bridges closed around the county. Two are in Madison Township. Bridge 101 will be shut down for approximately 30 days until the new bridge is completed. Bridge 114 on Four Arches Road was down to one lane last week for repair of a hole. It was opened and then closed again this week due another hole in the opposite lane opening up.

The Houck Iron Bridge (No. 146) is still closed and department officials are not sure when it will reopen. The Pinhook bridge (No. 139) in Greencastle Township is also closed.

Crowe's Bridge northeast of Greencastle has been reopened.
