Virgil Eugene Norris, 61, Fillmore, formerly of Brownsburg, died Thursday at his residence.

Born in Indianapolis, he was the son of Alva Lee and Leona Baker Norse.

He was retired from the Plainfield Correctional Facility where he worked for 15 years as a maintenance foreman. Previously he worked as a pipelayer for Vannice Construction and Eagle Valley Construction.

He was a member of First Assembly of God, Greencastle.

He married Joyce Lavenia Uhls Norris, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Shawn Bennett and husband, Bret, Rushville, and Sherri Brooks and husband Michael, Crawfordsville; son Travis Norris and wife Mitizi; sisters Virginia Edgar, O'Fallon, Mo., Sandra Armstrong, Brownsburg, and Kathy Lynch and husband Tom, Plainfield; brothers Alva Norris and wife Diane, Bainbridge, and Steven Norris, Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and 30 nieces and nephews.

Services will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Chandler-Hays Funeral Home, Greencastle with Pastor Troy Trout officiating.

Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.
