Luella S. Gottschalk, 79, formerly of South Whitley, Ind. died Sunday in Greencastle.

Born in Kalamazoo, Mich., she was the daughter of Charles and Ella (Thomas) Scott. She married Brandon Gottschalk on May 13, 1945, and the couple moved to Greencastle in April 2002.

A homemaker, she also was an Avon representative for several years and then worked for the Ideal Dress Shop until its closing, and then Harvey Home Furnishings in South Whitley.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of South Whitley and Farm Bureau.

Survivors include a son, Larry Gottschalk and wife Pat, Greencastle; a daughter, Sue E. Western and husband Tom, Columbia City; a sister, Helen Minniear, Lafayette; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Jack Scott and twin sisters Myrtle Tilley and Rose Ella Gibson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley, with burial following in South Whitley Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
