Samuel M. Mahorney, 83, Ladoga, died Wednesday at Hickory Creek at Crawfordsville.

Born at Crawfordsville, he was the son of George Z. and Orthella (Johnson) Mahoney.

He was a retired farmer and carpenter, and had worked at Allison in Indianapolis in 1941 and 1942. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1942-45, and was former Clark Township Trustee from 1959-67, and served on the South Montgomery School Board. he was a 1941 graduate of Ladoga High School and attended Ladoga Presbyterian Church. He was a member of American Legion at Crawfordsville, and Air Marine Torpedo Bomber Association 131.

He married Mary Catherine Brown on Nov. 22, 1946 at New Ross. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Patrick A. Mahorney and wife Carol, Ladoga, and Daniel J. Mahorney and companion Pam Bush, Ladoga; a daughter, Jeanne Clair Hamernick and husband Dave, Zionsville; and sister Alice Marie Mahorney, Zionsville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Ladoga, is handling arrangements.
