Leona L. Fowler Bevins, 73, Avon, formerly of Greencastle, died Sunday at Hendricks Regional Health, Danville.

Born in Greencastle, she was the daughter of Cloyd and Berniece (Thompson) Trisler.

A 1950 graduate of Greencastle High School, she had been an O.B. technician at Putnam County Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Plainfield.

She married Bill Fowler, who preceded her in death March 22, 1980. She married Chaplain A. Cliff Bevin on Oct. 29, 1988. He survives.

Also surviving are children Sonny Fowler, Greencastle, Cheryl Johnson and husband Alan, Indianapolis, Doug Fowler and wife Sally, Bainbridge, Alisha Doolin and husband Don, Hooksett, N.H., and Clossista Porter, Brazil; stepchildren Kate Osborn and husband David, Indianapolis, Valerie Gavagan of Connecticut, Cheryl Purdue and Ray Bevins, both of Indianapolis; sister Iona Floyd, Rockville; halfsister Wilma Riggle, Bedford; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband and sister Minnie Elliott.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. John Parsley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Hollandsburg.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
