Esther E. Wilcox Smedley, 92, Rocklin, Calif., formerly of Stilesville, and Mt. Prospect, Ill., died Monday at Manor Care in Citrus Heights, Calif.
Born in Stilesville, she was the daughter of William C. "Pat" Wilcox and Ora Gayneva (Rector) Wilcox.
A 1931 graduate of Stilesville High School, she was an administrative assistant at Harris Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago for 23 years. She attended Indiana Business College in Indianapolis, and was also employed by The Homeowner's Corp., Jean Logan Teacher's Placement Co., and the Packard Manufacturing Co., all of Indianapolis. She was a member of Community Baptist Church in Mt. Prospect, Ill., a former member of Stilesville Baptist Church, where she was a charter member and former worthy matron.
She married Albert Eugene Smedley, who died March 5, 2005.
Surviving are a son, Mark C. Smedley and wife Sharon, Loomis, Calif.; a granddaughter and great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother S. Marion Wilcox.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stilesville Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.
