Leota June Coffin, 81, Greencastle, died Saturday morning at Asbury Towers where she had resided for the last year.

Born in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Charles F. and L. Berenice (Dale) Smith.

A 1943 graduate of Fillmore High School, she earned a certified dietary assistant degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute. She was employed for 25 years as a dietician with IBM Corp. in Greencastle, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Fillmore, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary 58, Greencastle, and Quality of Life Committee at Asbury Towers.

She married Edwin O. Coffin on Dec. 23, 1942. He died Feb. 15, 1995.

Surviving are three sons, Charles Edwin "Chuck" Coffin and wife Lori, Franklin, Richard Coffin and wife Dicki, Greencastle, and H. Scott Coffin and wife Lori, Ocala, Fla.; a daughter, Ruby B. Smith and husband Dale, Darlington; a sister, Lelia Mae Lewis, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; two nephews, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. James Flater and Rev. Bob Newlin officiating. Burial will be in Fillmore Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday
