Ezra V. McMains, 81, Greencastle, died Sunday at his residence.

Born in Greencastle, he was the son of Alfred E. McMains and Olive Cleo Rollings.

He was a graduate of Greencastle High School.

He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and also served in the Korean War.

On Nov. 12, 1945, he married Gladys M. (Littrell) McMains.

He worked for Black Lumber Co. for 17 years as a millwright, before working at the Performing Arts Center at DePauw University for 10 years, retiring in 2005.

He was a member of the Hanna Street Baptist Church and a life member of VFW Post 1550 of Greencastle. He also served on the Greencastle City Council from 1968-72.

Survivors include his wife; son Larry R. McMains and wife Susie, Greencastle; daughters Patricia K. Moore, Seelyville, Karen L. Lynch and husband Steve, Seelyville; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a nephew and a great-grandchild.

Services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hanna Street Baptist Church, 501 E. Hanna Street, Greencastle, with Rev. Patrick Smith officiating.

Burial will be at Little Walnut Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home.
