Robert "Bob" G. Snelling, 79, Waynetown, died Thursday at St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville.

Born in Illinois, he was the son of Elmore and Mertie (Sperlin) Snelling.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he attended Waynetown High School and was a member of the American Legion in Wayne-town and Waynetown United Methodist Church. He formerly owned and operated Snelling Auto Service for 25 years, nd worked as the sextant of the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery for 10 years.

He married Charlene Carter on Jan. 23, 1945. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Pam Ball, Indianapolis, and Jennifer Dennis, Waynetown; brother Bill Snelling, Orange, Texas; five grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, seven brothers and son Stephen R. Snelling.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating.

Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, is handling arrangements.
