Man arrested in molestation

Wednesday, May 17, 2006

A Hendricks County man was arrested recently on allegations of child molestation, criminal deviate conduct and sexual misconduct with a minor.

Charges were recently filed in Putnam County against Michael Rose, 18, Danville, on allegations of child molestation, criminal deviate conduct, both class B felonies, and sexual misconduct with a minor, a class C felony. Court documents state at least one of the instances took place in Putnam County.

Putnam County Prosecutor Tim Bookwalter said Rose is currently being held in Hendricks County and could face up to 40 years in prison.

According to court documents, Hendricks County Det. Terry Judy was contacted by a Child Protective Services case worker on April 14, 2006, about a child molestation investigation involving a 10-year-old girl. Court reports state the alleged victim was interviewed on April 13, 2006, by the case worker and she said she had sexual intercourse with Rose.

The documents continued saying the girl and one of her friends were with Rose in his truck in the country as he stopped the vehicle. Upon stopping, court documents state Rose had sexual encounters with both girls.

Bookwalter said both alleged victims are from Hendricks County and Rose could be tried in both Putnam and Hendricks counties.

Bookwalter added he believed Rose could be brought to Putnam County to face charges soon.

"They could either bring him now or wait," Bookwalter said. "I'd expect (Putnam County Circuit Court Judge Matt Headley) to say, 'let's get him over here and get it going.'"
