Ellsworth speaks at J-J picnic Sunday

Vanderburgh County Sheriff Brad Ellsworth, Democratic candidate for the 8th District Congress-ional seat, will be the headliner at the annual Putnam County Jefferson-Jackson picnic at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bainbridge Community Center.

Ellsworth will speak to the annual gathering of local Democrats and other interested voters during the picnic.

A 24-year veteran of the Vanderburgh County sheriff's office, Ellsworth has held every merit rank and been decorated for heroism in the line of duty. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana and holds a master's degree in criminology from Indiana State University.

Ellsworth is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

There is a $10 per person charge to attend the outing where voters can meet Rick Thompson, running for Indiana House of Representatives District 44; Tom Helmer, candidate for sheriff; Jim Ensley, candidate for prosecutor; Russ Evans, candidate for commissioner in the second district; Carol Fagin, candidate for recorder; Doris Miller, candidate for Greencastle Township Trustee; and Greencastle Township Advisory Board candidates Marilyn Lawrence, Reta Pearson and Charles Miles.
