S. Putnam softball beats Cascade; Clovers fall to Bulldogs

Jessica Briones continues to make herself known in the West Central Conference as she led the South Putnam High School softball team to another victory.

The Eagles sent the Cadets packing Monday, blanking them 2-0.

South Putnam is now 3-0 on the season and 3-0 in the WCC.

"Our team showed a lot of composure (Monday), especially when Cascade had runners of second and third and when they had the bases loaded," SPHS Coach Allen Rains said. "We were able to work our way out of possible big innings for them with great pitching and some great defensive play."

Briones struck out 10 Cadets and only gave up four hits in seven innings while the Eagles collected three hits off the Cadets pitcher with Megan Robinson, Meghan Canary and Jessica Canary all having one hit each.
