CHS volleyball downs Eminence

EMINENCE -- The Cloverdale High School varsity volleyball team defeated Eminence on the road in four games on Tuesday.

The Clovers beat the Eels, 22-25, 25-20, 25-12, 25-13 to improve to 9-11 on the season.

Amber Curtis led the Clovers in scoring with a season-high 19 points and seven aces.

Hannah Monnett had a season-high 14 points and six aces while Kayla Shepherd had six points and one ace.

Erica Lotz had four points, Jennifer Wiley had three and Ashley Arnold, Kristen Schroer and Heather Moon each had two.

Stephanie Tutterow, Ashley Koosman and Alesha Evans all had one point.

Lotz had nine assists in the match, and Curtis had eight.

Monnett led all Cloverdale players with 12 kills, followed by Arnold's nine.

Moon had seven kills, Koosman recorded five and Kristin McCammon tallied four. Schroer had one kill in the match.

Monnett paced the Clovers in digs on Tuesday with 11 while Allie Franklin added 10 of her own. Moon had seven digs, and Tutterow had six.

Schroer and Arnold had three blocks while Arnold tallied four.

Monnett had three total blocks on the night.

"We played poorly the first game," Cloverdale coach Kathy Moore said. "We just couldn't get our hits in bounds.

"The rest of the match we were earning kills, and that happens when you pass the ball well. It was a good team win with many players coming off the bench to contribute."

The Clovers also earned a victory in junior varsity action on Tuesday night.

Cloverdale's JV squad improved its record to 18-3 on the season with a two-game victory over the Eels.

The Clovers won 25-22, 25-12.

Elizabeth Cheatham had four blocks, four kills and 11 attacks to lead Cloverdale.

Franklin contributed seven digs, 10 attacks and two kills.

The Clovers will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to Tri-West to face the Bruins at 6 p.m.
