Clovers take down Mounties in volleyball
NEW MARKET -- Cloverdale High School's varsity volleyball team defeated Southmont on the road Tuesday in three games.
The Clovers came out on top 25-12, 25-20, 25-17 to improve their season record to 12-14.
Amber Curtis led Cloverdale from the service line, finishing with 11 points and four aces. Heather Moon tallied eight points and one ace while Stehpanie Tutterow had six points, and Ashley Arnold had five points and two aces.
Erica Lotz contributed five points, and Ashley Koosman recorded three points and one ace. Kristen Schroer tallied two points.
Koosman, Moon and Hannah Monnett each had six kills while Arnold chipped in with four, and Schroer and McCammon had three. Lotz had one kill in the match.
Curtis had 12 set assists against the Mounties, and Lotz finished with seven.
Defensively, Tutterow recorded 18 digs, Moon had 15 and Amber Curtis recorded 10. Monnett finished with seven kills while Arnold and Allie Franklin each recorded six. Schroer had five digs, Jennifer Wiley had two and Lotz contributed one.
Arnold led all blockers with five blocks and one stuff block while Hannah Monnett tallied two. Heather Moon had one block, and Kristen McCammon finished with one block and one stuff block.
"Tonight was a nice win for us," Cloverdale varsity coach Kathy Moore said.
In junior varsity action, the Clovers picked up their 21st win of the season over the Mounties.
Elizabeth Cheatham recorded five kills and Kayla Shepherd finished with 15 points and eight digs. Maria Skiles finished with 10 assists and three points.
The Clovers will play Thursday when they host Lnton at 6 p.m.
