Nine DePauw womens' tennis players recently competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional Singles and Doubles Championship.

In doubles action, the team of Erin Andrade and Connie Shim won the tournament, advancing to the national tournament later this month. Amrita Padda reached the championship, but fell to Carrie Preston, 6-1, 6-4.

Shim and Andrade came into the tournament seeded fifth, but managed to defeat all five of their opponents. They won the championship match, 6-3, 6-2, over Meghan Damico and Sarah Mitchiner of Denison.

Davis named defensive player of the week

DePauw womens' soccer junior back Davis Federspiel has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Federspiel led DePauw in two shutout wins over Manchester and Rose Hulman last week.

In those two matches, the Tigers outshot their opponent's 33-9, including 16-4 in Saturday's match against Rose Hulman.
