CLAYTON -- On Wednesday, the Greencastle High School girls' varsity volleyball team knocked off West Central Conference foe Cascade in three games, 25-19, 25-18, 25-12.

"This was a great team victory, " GHS coach Trish Lowe said. "Cascade is one of the best teams in the conference, and we wanted to improve our conference finish from last year."

The Tiger Cubs are now 17-6 on the season and 4-1 in the WCC and Oliva Miller was the star of the night, with 11 kills and 13 blocks five in which were stuffs and 12 digs. Lauren Robertson chipped in four kills and 11 digs and three blocks while Alysa Hile had eight assists, eight digs and eight points for the night.

Megan Clodfelter was the defensive player of the night with 27 digs, nine points, five aces and two blocks. She also had two kills for the night. Stefanie Masten had three blocks, two of which were stuffs while Tabitha Wilson had nine digs, 14 points and four aces. Laura Weatherford had two assists and two kills and three digs while Kristen Flint had four blocks, one of which was a stuff and five digs. She also chipped in two kills. Kelsey Hennette came through with five assists, 13 digs, two points, two blocks in which one was a stuff and two kills.

"We played a great defensive game, digging up tough serves and attacks and we did a great job on the net. Oliva did a great job on the net," Lowe said. "I am so happy with the growth and maturity of this team and I am excited about their future development.."

In junior varsity action, the Tiger Cubs defeated the Cadets 25-20, 25-13, 15-14 and now are 7-16 on the season.

The Tiger Cubs take on South Putnam today at 6 p.m.
