INDIANAPOLIS -- For the Greencastle High School football team, the second half of its 44-28 loss to West Central foe Cascade was the half that counted.

The Tiger Cubs trailed 34-14 at halftime after Jeremiah Sutherlin broke free for a 41-yard touchdown and Cal Gard connected with Brian Troyer for a six-yard touchdown to put the Tiger Cubs on the board.

"During halftime, I told the team that they needed to go out and win the second half and that is what they did," GHS coach Mike Meyer said.

The Tiger Cubs outscored the Cadets 14-10 in the second half after the Tiger Cubs' defense stopped the Cadets from scoring a touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter, forcing them to kick a field goal.

After limiting the Cadets to only field goal, the Tiger Cubs scored when Gard connected with Troyer again for an 80-yard touchdown, marking Troyer's second of the night.

"These kids never quit one time at all during (Saturday's) game and Brian had a heck of a night," Meyer said.

The Cadets had 483 total yards for the night, with more than half of them coming in the first half.

Greencastle's defense limited the Cadets running game to 97 yards where the Tiger Cubs were able to rush for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

The Tiger Cubs blemished Kyle Foster's 286-yard passing night with an interception by Michael Richardson, who returned the interception for 30 yards in the second quarter, setting up the Tiger Cubs for their second touchdown.

The Tiger Cubs gained a total of 323 yards, with 168 of them coming from Troyer in the air on eight receptions. Greencastle rushed for 155 yards, with Drew Evens leading 61 yards on 18 carries. Troyer led the Greencastle in receiving with 107 yards on five receptions for two touchdowns.

Greencastle is now 4-4 on the season. The Tiger Cubs will be back in action on Friday, when they travel to Owen Valley to take on the Patriots at 7 p.m.
