CRAWFORDSVILLE -- Free throws can either make or break a game in basketball, and in the case of the Greencastle High School girls' basketball team it made the game.

The Tiger Cubs hit 25 of their 37 free throws in their 52-40 win over Southmont Tuesday.

The Tiger Cubs took control of the game right away, outscoring the Mounties 10-5 in the first quarter. Greencastle continued tits momentum in the second quarter, posting another 11 points, while holding the Mounties to a mere seven points.

Greencastle dropped its' guard in the third quarter, giving up 16 points to Southmont, while only scoring seven points itself.

The Tiger Cubs came back and redeemed themselves in the last quarter, outscoring the Mounties 24-12.

"The momentum of the game changed in the fourth quarter. They pulled us out of our match zone and that was a mistake. We went from being down by one to being up by eight within 1:30 left," Hile said.

The Mounties started fouling in the fourth quarter, and the Tiger Cubs capitalized on it, shooting 16-of-22 from the charity stripe to ensure their third win of the season.

"Once we got up by eight, they fouled us every chance they got, hoping that we would miss and fortunately we didn't," GHS Coach Glenn Hile said. "We had three people in double figures and anytime you get that, it's a pretty well played game."
