SHERIDAN -- The North Putnam varsity wrestling team finished third place at the Sheridan Invitational Saturday.

C.J. Spencer, A.J. Brewer, Jacob Stigall and Emmett Boruff all won their respective weight classes, while Chris Humphries and Levi Elliot finished in second place.

B.J. Brewer and Jim Davis finished third in the meet.

The Cougars wrestle at Rockville Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Cloverdale finishes fifth

CLINTON -- The Cloverdale varsity wrestling team finished fifth place at the South Vermillion Invitational Saturday.

Leading the Clovers, Josh Hatten finished with a record of 3-1 in the 152-pound weight class, while Zach Waycott and Alex Gardiner each went 2-1 in their respective classes.

At South Vermillion

Tiger Cubs compete at Avon

Avon -- The Greencastle High School boys' varsity wrestling team traveled to Avon to take part in the Avon Wrestling tournament, where it finished last with an 0-5 record.

Even though the Tiger Cubs finished last, they still had a couple individual champions. Chris Pingleton walked away the 145-pound champion with a 5-0 record while Robert Bittles became the 160-pound champion with a record of 5-0. Chase Dunigan took home the 275-pound championship with a 4-1 record.

The Tiger Cubs are back in action on Jan. 17th when they host Speedway starting at 6 p.m.

Eagles go 3-1 in Monrovia Invitational

MONROVIA -- The South Putnam High School boys' wrestling team finished with a 3-1 record in the Monrovia Invitational on Saturday.

The Eagles defeated their first opponent, Danville, 46-30, but lost their second bout with Owen Valley 47-36. The Eagles bounced back and won their last two bouts, defeating Indianapolis Ritter, 63-12, and Monrovia 51-28.

Several of the Eagles grapplers finished with good records. Brandon Vaughen finished 3-1 in the 103-pound class while Seth Green finished the same in the 119-pound class. Jeremiah Parrish finished 3-1 in the 135-pound class while Bo Jackson went 3-1 in the 140-pound class. Jacob Parrish came out with a 3-1 record in the 145-pound class while Jon Parker walked away 3-1 for the day in the 152-pound class. Josh Sanders came out 3-1 in the 171-pound class and Ben Parker went 3-1 for the day in the 189-pound class. Joe Snellenberger finished the invitational with a record of 3-1 in the heavyweight division.

The Eagles are back in action on on Wednesday when they travel to Plainfield for a 6:30 p.m. bout.
