CLINTON -- The Cloverdale girls' basketball team improved its record to 7-8 on the season, defeating South Vermillion, 51-43, on Saturday.

Hannah Monnett led the Clovers with 18 points on five five goals, including four three pointers.

"She did a really nice job defensively again," Cloverdale Coach Bruce Cook said. "She looked to shoot a little bit more than she had been."

Ashley Koosman had 12 points on four field goals, while Ashley Arnold added eight points in the game.

The Wildcats pressed the Cloverdale offense throughout most of the game, but with Chelsie Haltom handling the point guard duties, the Clovers' offense remained in tact.

"She really controls the ball for us," Cook said. "She really played within herself Saturday. They pressed us the whole game, and she took care of the press herself."

Cloverdale plays at Greencastle Tuesday in a rematch of the opening round of the Putnam County Tourney. The Clovers won that game, 40-35.

However, Cook knows the Tiger Cubs are improved, and will be ready to play.

"(Stefanie) Masten is playing better than she was at the beginning of the year," he said. "The (Cassie) Alspaugh girl is starting to come around for them. And Kyrian (Marshall) kind of anchors for the middle."
