DePauw women defeat Kangaroos in soccer

The DePauw University women's soccer team ended its season with a 2-0 win over Austin College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up Sunday.

DePauw scored one goal in each half and improved to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in the SCAC.

Austin ended the year at 10-8-1 overall and 5-4 in SCAC action.

Jacki Ponder scored a goal 5:10 into Sunday's match, and Katy Phillips scored another goal for the Tigers at the 57:40 mark on an assist from Emily Petrus.

DePauw outshot Austin 12-1 and had a 12-0 edge in corner shots.

The Tigers' season is not over, however, as they have earned a spot in the 60-team NCAA Division III Championship.

DePauw will face Macalester in a first-round match-up at Wheaton College on either Friday or Saturday.

A time for the match has not been announced.
