It's time to break out the lights, wreaths, bows and plastic Santa's Putnam County.

The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 2006 Home for the Holidays Lawn Decorating Contest for decorated front yards, porches and driveways.

Residents can enter by filling out and returning entry forms to the Chamber of Commerce office, 16 S. Jackson St., Greencastle, by 4 p.m. on Dec. 6.

In addition, entry forms may be faxed to the Chamber of Commerce office at 765-848-1015.

Once entered, residents must have their homes decorated by Monday. Dec. 11, so that a panel of judges will be able to observe them from Dec. 12-15. Lights need to be turned on by 5 p.m. on those evenings.

Contestants will be judged on originality, continuity of theme, preparation and effort and the "Spirit of Christmas." The top three entries will be announced in the BannerGraphic, which will also print a lit of noteworthy entries that residents might like to view.

First place will receive a $100 gift card, while second will receive a $50 gift card. Third place will receive a $25 gift card.

The contest is open to all Putnam County residents. For more information, call Tammy Amor at 653-4517.
