Noel earns Academic All-American status
DePauw University senior forward Nick Noel was recently selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Men's Soccer First Team.
He was one of 11 players from NCAA Divisions II and III and NAIA selected to the first team.
The Zionsville native has a 3.59 grade-point average, while majoring in education and minoring in Spanish.
The 2006 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year led the Tigers and the league this season with 45 points and shared the league lead with 17 goals. At the end of the regular season, he ranked ninth in Division III in points per game, 19th in goals per game and 20th in assists per contest.
In only two seasons with the Tigers, he ranked 10th with 28 career goals and 17 assists and is tied for ninth with 73 points.
The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. To be considered for the teams, a student-athlete must maintain a grade-point average of 3.20 or better and be a starter or an important reserve.
