All-West Central Conference teams announced

All-West Central Conference teams for 2006 volleyball and boys' and girls' soccer were announced recently, and Putnam County athletes were well-represented.

In volleyball, eight area players were honored with All-conference status.

The Cloverdale Clovers, who won the Class 2A sectional championship this season, boasted a pair of All-WCC selections, as seniors Ashley Arnold and Hannah Monnett were both named to the squad.

Three players represent Greencastle on the team. Seniors Megan Clodfelter and Olivia Miller were named to the team along with junior Kelsey Hennette.

The Tiger Cubs finished the season with an overall record of 25-5 and went undefeated in WCC action to earn the conference title.

GHS fell in the second round of sectional action to Sullivan.

C.J. Searles and Shelby Johnston were named to the team from South Putnam, and North Putnam's lone All-Conference selection was sophomore Taylor Alles.

Five local athletes made the grade on the All-WCC girls' soccer squad.

Greencastle, which went 3-1 in conference action during the fall, posted three players to the squad.

Kayla Birt, Francie Glenn and Rachel Woodall all were given All-Conference honors. All three are seniors.

North Putnam seniors Chelsea Greene and Brook Miller also made the team.

The Cougars finished the year at 2-2 in the WCC and went 10-6-1 overall.

The All-WCC team for boys' soccer boasted six area players, three each from Greencastle and NPHS.

Greencastle was represented by seniors Joel Bottom and J.D. Sims. Junior Eric Davis was also honored as an All-Conferencce player.

Greencastle went 2-1 in WCC action this season.

The North Putnam Cougars, who went 1-3 in the conference and 2-13-1 for the season, were represented by three seniors.

Brian Rhoden, Scott Williams and Craig Wood were all named to the team.

The All-WCC football lineup will be released at a later date.
