Doris L. Beech, 90, Newburgh, Ind., formerly of Greencastle, died Sunday at Newburgh Healthcare.

Born in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Maud Long.

She graduated from Greencastle High School in 1934 and became a dance instructor. She later owned and operated The White Way Restaurant in Greencastle.

In the early 1950s, she started the Doris Hinkle School of Dance, teaching dance out of her home and eventually expanding her dance school with studios in Bloomington and Spencer. She also owned and operated the Old Topper Tavern for many years before retiring in the mid-1970s.

Survivors include her daughter Kay Aissou, Newburgh; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her brother Linden Long and her husbands Jack P. Hinkle and Robert Beech.

Arrangements are pending for a memorial service which will be conducted in Greencastle.

Titzer Family Funeral Home, Simpson Chapel, Newburgh, is handling local arrangements.
