DePauw women down Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The DePauw University women's basketball team improved to 7-1 overall after knocking off Wittenberg on the road, 82-60.

The Tigers are ranked fifth in the D3hoops.com poll and sixth in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches poll, and won their sixth straight game Saturday.

Wittenberg had a 15-9 lead eight minutes into the game, but the Tigers closed the half on a 35-8 run to take a 44-23 lead into halftime.

DePauw extended its lead to as much as 29 in the second half.

Emily Marshall paced the Tigers with 12 points and 11 rebounds while Meghan Warner had 12 points. Caitlin McGonigal also had 11.

Suzy Doughty led the Tigers with nine assists, moving past Susan Bender's school mark. Doughty now has 360 assists in her career.

She also finished with two steals to move to 220 in her career, one shy of the school record set by Marlene McQueary.

DePauw will face Webster on the road Wednesday.
