EMINENCE -- The North Putnam Cougars fell to 2-9 on the season with a loss to Eminence on the road Tuesday.

The Cougars were outscored by the Eels in all four quarters in a 52-29 loss.

"Defensively the girls played well at times, but we only shot 20 percent from the field," North Putnam coach Kevin Smith said.

"You can't win many games shooting that way."

No NPHS player scored in double figures, and the Cougars were led by Carlye McGaughey, who chipped in with eight points.

Leah Crosby and Taylor Alles each scored six, and Shawna Johnston scored four.

Chelsea Green had three, and Elsiana Crosby scored two.

Johnston led the Cougars in rebounding, pulling down five boards.

Alles had four, Leah Crosby had three and McGaughey, Brook Miller and Ashley Pietras each pulled down two rebounds.

Miller also had four assists in the game.

"Defensively, (Leah) Crosby and Alles played a good game," Smith said.

"They seemed to be in the right position most of the night, but we just gave up too much at the wrong times."

North Putnam's junior varsity squad also lost Tuesday, dropping a 43-33 decision to the Eels.

The Cougars will be in action again Thursday at home against Fountain Central with a scheduled junior varsity start of 6 p.m.
