The four Putnam County girls' basketball squads learned who they would face in the upcoming postseason as the Indiana High School Athetic Association conducted the 2006-07 tournament draw Monday evening.

Cloverdale, North Putnam and South Putnam all compete in Class 2A's Sectional 45, which will be played at Cascade, while Greencastle competes in Class 3A's Sectional 29, which will take place at West Vigo this year.

The Eagles (7-11) will be the first team to hit the court from Putnam County this postseason as they will face the host Cadets on Monday.

Cascade is 9-8 this season and has already defeated South Putnam, coming away with a 43-41 win on Dec. 8 at South Putnam.

The Eagles are 1-4 in West Central Conference action while Cascade is 4-1. In addition, the Eagles are currently riding a three-game losing streak heading into today's matchup at Clay City.

Cloverdale (11-7) drew Monrovia in the first round of sectional competition. The Bulldogs are 9-9 on the year and are 3-2 in conference play. Cloverdale is 4-1 in WCC games.

The Clovers lost to Monrovia earlier this season at home, 48-45, but the Clovers are currently riding a five-game winning streak and will face Shakamak on the road today.

South Vermillion will face the winner of the first game in the sectional as well. The Wildcats are 10-8 this year.

Heading into the postseason, Cloverdale has the best record among teams in Sectional 45. The Clovers have not lost since suffering a 49-39 setback to Park Tudor on Jan. 4.

Against possible sectional opponents, the Clovers are 5-3.

On the other hand, South Putnam is 0-6 against possible sectional opponents while North Putnam is 1-6.

Cloverdale is led by Bruce Cook, who has a 37-44 record in four years at the helm. South Putnam is coached by Debbie Steffy, who is 108-86 in nine seasons while North Putnam is coached by Kevin Smith, who is 24-37 in three seasons.

The Tiger Cubs are 1-18 on the season with one game remaining. Greencastle faces Monrovia on the road Friday.

Greencastle is led by Glen Hile, who has a record of 129-94 in 10 seasons with the Tiger Cubs.

Greencastle was handed a tough draw Monday evening as the Tiger Cubs learned they would face Owen Valley in the first round of the postseason.
