Hubert E. Powell, 86, Cloverdale, died Sunday at his residence.

Born in Vandalia, he was the son of William E. and Myrtle Faye Keene Powell. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie Pierce Powell.

He was retired from IBM in Greencastle where he worked in production as well as security for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of Hurst Collins Legion Post 281 as well as a past master of Cloverdale Masonic Lodge 132 and a member of Order of Eastern Star 369 and Mount Hebron Church.

Additional survivors include a son, Terry Powell and wife Pamela, Clermont; a daughter, Judy Powell, Cloverdale; a sister, Ada Mannan, Franklin; and a brother, Harold Powell, Plainfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Juanita Talbott and Pauline Larkin, and brothers Arthur and Troy Powell.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cloverdale Cemetery with military rites.

There will be no visitation.

Chandler-Hays Funeral Home in Greencastle is in charge of arrangements.
