Ruth Marie Cooney

Ruth Marie Cooney, 76, Mooresville, died Saturday at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born in Marion County, she was the daughter of Eldon Parker and Daphna Sally (Campbell) Gillon.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle.

She married Lewis Edward Johnson, who died in 1961. She later married Clarence Oliver Cooney, who died in 1989.

Surviving are five sons, James Cooney, Camby, Mark Cooney, Danville, Robert Johnson, Mooresville, Stephen Johnson, Franklin, and Paul Johnson, Mooresville; daughter Mary Ann Huff, Stilesville; sisters Lucy Ann Brunk, Florence, S.C., and Nancy Dee Warrener, Redkey; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and brothers David Eldon Gillon and Daniel Allen Gillon.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carlisle and Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, with burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday.
