What would you pay to play?

A community center or YMCA has been one of the most talked about "needs" for Greencastle and Putnam County for many years.

And it looks like a current effort to meet that need is gaining steam as a committee of county citizens seek public input into the creation of such a facility.

A public forum has been set for 7 p.m. Monday, April 9 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds to develop some preliminary information. Among the options to consider for the facility are spaces for a gymnasium, weights and fitness, meetings, dance, arts and computers.

The community center task force has looked at various facilities, funding possibilities and organizational structures, and that information will be shared with the public.

The group will also discuss what people are willing to pay to have such a facility available to them.

The April 9 meeting is the first of several public meetings planned, and is open to all county residents.

Members of the task force are Mayor Nancy Michael, Beau Baird, Brian Carrington, Adam Cohen, Judy George, Brian Pohlar, Jamie Landry, Leslie Hanson, Laurie Hardwick, Rick Provine, Rod Weinschenk, Amy Welliver and Eric Wolfe.
