Floyd I. Sims, 92, Cloverdale, died Sunday at Putnam County Hospital.

Born in Clay County, he was the son of George F. and Inis (Reed) Sims.

A 1934 graduate of Greencastle High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving the WWII Victory Medal, America Defense Service Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star and the Good Conduct Ribbon. He was a member of Amity Baptist Church and was a former Farm Bureau director.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Lorene Sims; five children, Marge Kay Buehler and husband Rick, Fort Wayne, June Finney and husband Chuck, Eminence, Linda Hoffa and husband Terry, and Mike Sims and wife Debbie, all of Cloverdale, and Carol Jeanna Sims, Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Geneva Dimitroff, Clayton, N.M., Frieda Finney and husband Jay, Jefferson City, Mo., Betty Foxx and husband Merle, and Norma Albin, all of Greencastle; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Marvin, Paul, Frank and Maurice Sims.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
