Tiger Cubs tennis wins at Speedway

SPEEDWAY -- The Greencastle tennis team moved to 4-0 on the season with a WCC win last night at Speedway, 4-1. Coach Trish Lowe was happy with her team's performance in the conditions.

"This was a great day to play with a huge wind factor. I think we did a good job making adjustments for the win. I guess we are conference champions!" she said.

Besides being undefeated as a team, number one singles Kelsey Hennette (4-0), number three singles Emma Kaiser (3-0) and the number one doubles team of Kayla Birt and Savannah Provine (4-0) all stayed undefeated. Also winning for the Tiger Cubs was the number two doubles team of Ashley Watkins and Rachel Jackson.

The Tiger Cubs will host Crawfordsville at 4;30 p.m. Thursday.

Eagles win at Southmont

NEW MARKET -- South Putnam girls' tennis traveled to Southmont Monday, where they picked up a 3-2 victory over the Mounties.

Winning matches for the Eagles were number two singles Whitney Warren, number three singles Elizabeth Mink and the number one doubles team of Chelsea Clark and Samantha Callahan.

Coach Johnnie Briones was pleased with what he saw from his team.

"I'm proud of the number one doubles team. They came back and won in three sets," Briones said.

Additionally, Warren moved her record to 5-0.

The Eagles travel to Turkey Run for a 4:30 p.m. match today.
