DPU men win SCAC

WACO, Texas -- With Sunday's title match tied at four wins each, DePauw men's tennis number four singles player Bryan Heck fought his way to a three-set win that lifted the eighth-ranked Tigers to a 5-4 victory over seventh-ranked Trinity. It is DePauw's first SCAC men's tennis crown.

The championship earned DePauw an automatic bid in the NCAA Division III championships. More information on scores and the tournament matchup were unavailable.

DePauw softball loses in SCAC final

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The DePauw University women's softball team fell to Centre and was eliminated from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday. The Tigers lost 3-0 to drop them to 32-5 on the season.

Centre scored in the bottom of the first and put two more in the seventh inning, to put them in the win column.

Despite moving base runners, DePauw was unable to move them across the plate. The Tigers left eight runners on base.

For the Tigers, Lauren Curosh posted her only loss of the season while Kristy Mahon, Jessica Krueger, Rachel Gill and Curosh each had one hit for DePauw.

The Tigers will close its season with a double header at home Wednesday against Franklin at 4 p.m.

Women's tennis falls in finals

WACO, Texas -- The number-one ranked DePauw women's tennis team suffered its second loss of the season and finished second in the SCAC with a 5-4 loss to seventh-ranked and top-seeded Sewanee in Sunday's conference championship match.

The Tigers' record is 18-2.

Women's golf finishes second

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Fourth-ranked DePauw women's golf shot a two-round 673 and saw its string of five straight SCAC championships come to an end when Southwestern won its first title with a 657, including a 318 in Sunday's second round.

Ali Murtaugh led DePauw with a 162, which was good for fourth and All-SCAC honors. Joining her on the all-conference squad were Sarah Gates with a fifth-place 166 and Kristen Kreighauser with a sixth-place 169.

Erin Kielty finished 13th with a 176, and Nicole Garza was 15th with a 169.

Piatek leads Tigers to second place

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Led by medalist Joey Piatek's two-round 149, DePuaw men's golf finished second with a 613 at the SCAC championships at White Wing Golf Course. Rhodes won with a 610.

Piatek shot a 71 in the first round and followed it up with a 78 on Sunday. Joining him on the all-SCAC team were Jordan Voss, who tied for second with a 154 and Josh Abrams and Peter Haller, each of who finished tied with a 156. Rob Harper tied for 25th with a 160.

Men's track brings home second

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- DePauw men's track collected 168 points and finished second behind Trinity at the SCAC championships. No further results were available.

DePauw returns to action Friday at 4 p.m. at the Butler Twilight in Indianapolis.

Women's track places third
