Lelia Mae Smith Lewis, 85, Sierra Vista, Ariz., formerly of Putnam County, died Monday, May 21 at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center.

Born in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Charles F. and L. Berenice Dale Smith.

She was a 1940 graduate of Fillmore High School and a member of the Northwood Christian Church in Indianapolis. She also attended New Hope Fellowship in Sierra Vista, Ariz.

She worked as a sales clerk at the first Hickory Farms of Ohio in Indianapolis where she was promoted to store manager. She also held positions with Hickory Farms as the Indiana District Supervisor and Corporate Store Training Consultant before retiring in 1982. She was also an active member of the Mall Merchants' Association.

She married Venice F. Lewis on Oct. 19, 1940.

Survivors include sons Gordon H. Lewis, Huachuca City, Ariz., and Norman F. Lewis, Eugene, Ore.; two grandsons and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Leota June Coffin.

Services were conducted May 25 at New Hope Fellowship, Sierra Vista, Ariz.
