Bash at the Strip returning to the fair

Thursday, July 19, 2007

The Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League is set to invade the Putnam County Fairgrounds for the 7th Annual Bash at the Strip Truck & Tractor Pull on Sunday, July 22 at 7 p.m. during the Putnam County Fair.

Three exciting classes will be on site to entertain the ever-enthusiastic fans in the Greencastle area. Now in its second year of sanctioning professional pulling events, the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League is already the largest sanctioning organization nationally. The league will sanction and produce in excess of 200 events this year and more than 250 in 2008.

The classes at the Putnam County Fair event include the mighty horsepower, dirt-churning pro modified 4-wheel drive trucks with over 1300 horsepower and featuring local standout Jake Zaring of Fillmore. The smoke-bellowing pro stock tractors and the ever-popular super farm tractors are also slated to compete at the Putnam Fairgrounds Bash at the Strip.

"We expect a large turn-out of competitors, as many of the pullers will be coming to Greencastle because of the crowd and the excellent pulling surface," Director John Mears said.

The pull is sponsored locally by Co-Alliance Energy Solutions, Humphrey's Outdoor Power, York Automotive and Dixie Chopper.

Owned by Lucas Oil Products Inc. of Corona, Calif., the Pro Pulling League will conduct upward of 200 events across the contiguous United States, featuring the sport's top drivers and their exotic truck and tractor pulling vehicles in 2007.

In addition to Lucas Oil, major associate funding of the league comes from Dixie Chopper, R&L Carriers, General Tire, Summit Racing Equipment, K&N Filters, Torco Race Fuels Inc. and others.
