Bryan named board member

Thursday, August 9, 2007
Barbara Bryan took the oath of office for the Greencastle School Board from personnel director Ruth Schroeder during the Aug. 8 board meeting.

A veteran member has returned to serve on the Greencastle School Board.

Barbara Bryan was selected Wednesday evening to join Jack Berry, Mike Dean, Mark Kannowski and Barry Fisher on the appointed board.

She fills a seat recently vacated by Monica Fennell, who will be serving a one-year internship with the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington D.C.

Bryan had previously served two terms on the school board as appointed by the Greencastle City Council. Last year, Fennell was selected by the school board to replace Bryan. With Fennell's resignation, however, the task of filling that position fell to the school board. Bryan's past experience on the board was cited as a reason for her selection.

On Monday, the school board interviewed five candidates for the position, and delayed its decision until Wednesday's regular monthly meeting.
