Dorothy D. Newnum, 88, West Lafayette, died Friday at Westminster Village, West Lafayette.

Born in Perrysville, she was the daughter of Claude A. and Audra (Bodine) Denton.

A graduate of Covington High School, she was a retired accountant for Tri-County Telephone. She was a member of New Richmond United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, New Richmond Study Club, New Richmond Town Council and New Richmond Tourism Council. She had resided in New Richmond before moving to West Lafayette 10 years ago.

She married Ora L. Newnum on May 22, 1937 at Covington. He died March 25, 1994.

Surviving are two sons, Roger Newnum and wife Ruth Ann, Greencastle, and Kenneth Newnum and wife Ruth Ann, Crawfordsville; two daughters, Betty Jo Thomas and husband Leo, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Lu Ann Stohrer and husband Fred, Holly, Mich.; sister Nina A. Gray, Covington; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, with Rev. Patty French officiating.

Burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
