Lola "Peg" Hardman Parrish

Lola Margaret "Peg" Hardman Parrish, 88, Greencastle, died Monday at Putnam County Hospital.

Born in Cloverland, near Brazil, she was the daughter of William Martin and Blanche Kauble Hardman. She married Robert Joseph Parrish on Sept. 14, 1938. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and seamstress, but in her early years worked for the Fobes family and cared for their children, along with other families in Greencastle.

She also worked at her son-in-law's restaurant in Belle Union, called Floyd's Place.

She was a member of the Christian Church in Brazil and later attended the Church of God in Greencastle.

Survivors include a step-son, Robert Franklin Parrish Sr. and wife Geneva, Indianapolis; two step-daughters, Florence Jean Parrish Eveland and husband Marion, Knightsville, and Retta Maxine Parrish O'Neal, Greencastle; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Agnes Lavern Hardman, Virginia "Jo" Neeld and Jaunita Hardman Wolf, brothers George, James and William "Bill" Hardman, step-son William Eugene Parrish, and three grandchildren.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with a private service at Forest Hill Cemetery to follow at a later date.
