The North Putnam girls soccer squad fell to Greencastle, 7-0, Thursday night at home.

"Hats off to Greencastle for a good match. Speed, control, strength, aggression, they had the total package. It's really the style of soccer that we aspire to play," head coach Scott Spencer said.

Kate Williams had 14 saves for North Putnam in the goal for the Cougars.

The Cougars are 1-1 on the season.

On Wednesday night, the North Putnam Cougars girls soccer team hosted the Monrovia Bulldogs. The Cougars won the contest 3-1 for its first win of the season.

Scoring for the Cougars were Cara Horn, Brooke Hadley and Elsiana Crosby.

"I'm really happy with this outcome at this early point in the season," Spencer said. "We make every effort to be ready for this important opener each season versus a conference opponent and tonight we played a very mature and controlled game.

"I'm especially proud of our communication. Many of the girls started their first varsity match tonight and they handled the pressure well. Everyone contributed to this win. It was a total team effort," Spencer added.
