DANVILLE -- South Putnam won a three-way golf match with Danville and Greencastle Thursday at Twin Bridges, 200-226-231. However, it was the third-place Tiger Cubs who had the individual star of the day in Chelsea Samuels.

The Tiger Cub freshman shot a season-low 44 to capture medalist honors. While Samuels had shown some promise early in her rookie campaign, a score this low, this soon may have been a bit surprising to even her coach.

"I was really pleased for Chelsea to earn her first match medalist honors," said GHS coach Brad Kingma. "She went five strokes below her previous personal best."

The victorious Eagles were led by Heather Hughes' 46. Emily Zimmerman shot a 47, adn Tosha Fisher had a 53. Grace Aker rounded out the scoring with a 54.

For Greencastle, Samuels' 44 was followed by Dana Norman's 56. Kelsey Murtagh had a 61, and Ashlyn Archer shot a 70.

The Tiger Cubs' next match is 4:30 p.m. Monday at Plainfield with Danville. The Eagles hit the links again at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Terre Haute South.
