GHS boys' tennis defeats Speedway

SPEEDWAY -- The Greencastle boys' tennis team easily handled the Speedway Sparkplugs Tuesday night on the road. GHS won the event 4-1, sweeping the singles events.

Greencastle started strong with three wins from its singles players. No. 1 single Sam Hirt defeated Jared Trackwell 6-0, 6-0 to get things rolling. In No. 2 singles action, Brennan Burks defeated Mike Garcia 6-0, 6-0, while No. 3 singles player Eric Warren took care of Thomas Gunter 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles team of Seth Heithaus and Tye Fauvergue defeated Tyler Akers and Mark Lottes, 6-4, 7-6

Greencastle's only loss came in the No. 2 doubles when Logan Grzesiek and Xander Hazel fell to Jimmy Moorman and Dean Butz 6-0 and 6-2.

Greencastle will host Turkey Run at 5 p.m. today.
