CLOVERDALE -- With winds blowing and rain trickling down, the Cloverdale girls' golf team hosted Greencastle and Monrovia Wednesday night. . The Clovers finished third on the night with a team total of 231.

Cloverdale's Kayla Langdon drives the ball on hole No. 15 at Clover Meadows Tuesday night. The Clovers finished third on the night.

After an hour delay, the teams hit the course with rain still falling, but both the Clovers and the Tiger Cubs struggled to find their stride.

Sophomore Kayla Langdon led Cloverdale with a team-low 51. Langdon blended good iron shots with touch around the greens. Also Langdon is looking to add more weapons to her arsenal.

"Kayla played pretty good," CHS head coach Ken Williams said. "It's the first time she's had anything beside a utility wood.

"As soon as she gets hitting the driver or a three-wood most days and hitting it straight -- She's going to surprise a lot of people. She just does so many thing so well." Williams added.

The Clovers Kate Chambers shot a 59 including a pair of nines on holes 10 and 17.

"Kate hit some great shots and she drove the ball so long today. I'm surprised (with her score) and she's disappointed," Williams said.

Elizabeth Wiley shot a 67 for the Clovers and Jessica Hall carded a 69.

But the round of the day for Cloverdale belonged to Paige Cassida. Cassida turned in an impressive round of 54, a feat that her coach was quick to commend.

"Paige had a career day," Williams said with a smile.

Greencastle got back on track after a downward turn earlier in the week.

"We played a lot better. We played a real bad match on Monday and this is our first match since then, so it was really nice to get back to that position," Tiger Cubs coach Brad Kingma commented.

Greencastle saw Chelsea Samuels come out strong to shoot a 45 to lead the Tiger Cubs. Dana Norman struggled early but found her swing late in the round to card a 51.

"Dana needs to develop more consistency in her swing," Kingma observed.

Ashlyn Archer and Kelsey Murtagh shot a pair of 64's, while Diane Woukon shot a 67.

"Our number three, four and five golfers are all first year players. So they just have to keep playing and I can see he improvements in their game," Kingma commented.

Monrovia's Julia Porter captured medalist honors with a six-over par round of 42.

The Clovers will host Owen Valley and Cascade at 4 p.m. Wednesday while the Tiger Cubs will host Owen Valley at 4:30 p.m. today.
