Eagle junior high opens season

The South Putnam Junior High football teams opened their 2007 seasons Wednesday with a pair of losses to Cascade.

The seventh grade fell 20-6, with the lone Eagle touchdown coming from Lewie Knoy.

The eighth grade fell to the Cadets 12-6. The game was called with two minutes remaining due to lightning. Zach Smith had the only Eagle touchdown with a kickoff return.

The Eagles will be back in action when they host Speedway at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5.
