Cougars fall to Ritter

Thursday, September 6, 2007

INDIANAPOLIS -- The North Putnam Cougars girls' soccer team hit the road to face Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Wednesday night. The Cougars came up short, falling to the Raiders 6-1.

North's only goal was provided by Cara Horn on a Brooke Hadley assist in the first half of play.

As North hit the half, they trailed by only on goal but the Raiders hit their stride and scored five more goals against the Cougar defense.

"Ritter is a much improved and fundamentally solid team," NP head coach Scott Spencer said. "I was happy with our first half performance, we just lost sight of a couple of key players in the second half and they took advantage.

"The problem was our mistakes happened in areas that made it easy for them to score and break down our defense," he added.

The Cougars were outshot by Ritter 16-12.

North will travel to North?Montgomery at 5 p.m. today.
