GHS volleyball wins at Monrovia

MONROVIA -- The Greencastle volleyball team posted its ninth win of the season on Thursday night as it defeated Morovia in four games. The Tiger Cubs won 22-25, 25-18, 25-21 and 25-21.

"This was a great win for us in the conference," Tiger Cub head coach Trish Lowe said.

Despite losing the first game the Tiger Cubs surged back and took the next three games.

Kelsey Hennette lead the way for Greencastle, recording 30 assists, 21 digs, seven blocks, three stuff blocks, two aces and three kills. Oliver Miller was big for the Tiger Cubs with 22 kills, 18 digs and three aces. Sarah Land recorded one kill and five assists and Kristen Flint added 10 kills, 10 digs and four aces.

The unit of Miller, Land and Flint combined to dominate the net for GHS with a total of 44 blocks.

Veronica Sawyers contributed six digs, one assist and one ace, while Kayla Nobles added 12 digs, one ace and three kills. Brooke Lewis had 18 digs and four kills.

"Kristen Flint had a great match serving and hitting. I was proud of our team coming back after losing the first game," Lowe added.

In junior varsity action, Greencastle defeated the Bulldogs in three game. GHS won 21-25, 25-11 and 15-9.

The Tiger Cubs will travel to Danville to face the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
