Putnam County Sher­iff's Deputy Josh Boller responded to a crash at 8:45 p.m. Monday on U.S. 231 near East County Road 200 North.

Lynda E. Gorrell, 22, Russellville, told Boller she was driving north on U.S. 231 and making a left turn on to County Road 200 North when a car driven by Troy C. Strader, 18, Roachdale, attempted to pass her on the left, according to a police report.

Strader's 1995 Chevy Lumina struck the front left side of Gorrell's 2003 Pontiac Sunfire, the report said.

Estimated damage is between $2,500 and $5,000.

Putnam County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* Meridith Rhey Wallace, 18, Greencastle, was booked in at 8:37 p.m. Tuesday by Greencastle Sgt. Chris Jones for three county of burglary, two courts of theft and one count of residential entry, all felonies.

* Travis Stone, 28, Greencastle, was booked in at 11 p.m. Tuesday by Greencastle Officer Eric Vaughan for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

* Jason Chestnut, 37, Cloverdale, was booked in at 7:29 p.m. Wednesday by Deputy Craig Sibbitt for non-support of a child.

* Micheal A. Rice, II, 25, Greencastle, was booked in at 1:15 a.m. Thursday for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, failure to stop after damaging a property and public intoxication. He was released on $1,500 bail.
