Clovers fall to Mounties in five

CLOVERDALE -- On Tuesday night, the Cloverdale volleyball team battled with Southmont for five games. The Clovers came up short, losing 16-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22 and 10-15.

Kristen McCammon led the Clovers with 10 points and three aces, while Maria Skiles added eight points and four aces. Allie Franklin contributed six points and two aces and Ashley Koosman, Alesha Evans, and Erica Lotz all have five points. Kayla Shepard had three points and Whitney Bond had one point.

Elizabeth Cheatham collected seven blocks and four stuff blocks, while Evans added seven blocks and three stuff blocks. Koosman and McCammon added three blocks, Kristen Schroer had two and Bond added one.

In the kill department, Koosman led the way with nine, McCammon had six and Cheatham tallied five. Evans recorded four kills, along with Schroer adding three and Jennifer Wiley adding two.

Kaileigh Sparks and Lotz had a team-high eight assists, with Skiles adding four.

"It was a tough match to lose especially on senior night. Everyone played hard," CHS head coach Kathy Moore commented.

The Clovers will be on the road against Linton-Stockton at 6 p.m. Thursday.
